Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer, and for me and millions of other people it’s a chance to get away and enjoy the sun and the outdoors. This year was no exception. I made my way to the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York. Keuka Lake one of the Finger Lakes, was the lake I was staying on with my girlfriend and her family. It was a great test for my new camera and its capabilities with a lot of different scenes with lots of light and the reflection of that light coming off the water.
The Finger Lakes are an amazing area of rolling hills with farms and vineyards dotting the landscape. The vineyards in the area specialize in Riesling wines with too many tasting rooms to count. I have made this trip few times before but each time feels like a completely new adventure. With a new vineyard to visit or different part of the lake or more of the country side to explore each time we do something is new and exciting. These adventures always present many opportunities to expand my photography portfolio continually test my skill.
One such adventure proved to be an absolute goldmine. This particular goldmine, happened to be an antique store set in an old country barn up on the hillside, hidden among the vineyards. The lighting was brilliant with so many amazing points of focus. The collection of antiques were sourced from three surrounding states broken into separate areas for each vendor. Looking through the antiques portfolio we found some amazing treasures.
We also witnessed one of the most powerful rain storms I have every seen. We were able to sit of the porch for the duration of the storm. It was truly an amazing storm to witness and we were able to capture a few pictures documenting the storm.
Keuka Lake is always a great time and this was no exception. My girlfriend and I are looking forward to our next lake adventure. Look out for the full portfolio of Keuka Lake pictures.
